The Chaos-Engineered Whiteboard brings enterprise rigor to holding meeting diagrams. By introducing a failure-injection resilience regime between the user and the outcome, the Department has eliminated the dangerous immediacy of the legacy approach.

Operation begins by filing a DiagramCommit, which enters a priority queue ordered by seniority. Note that operators must tolerate deliberate random failures injected during business hours — a requirement introduced after Incident 47, about which no further questions are taken.

Architecture

  • fault-injection-scheduler: Validates every incoming DiagramCommit against policy; rejections are final but appealable in writing.
  • blast-radius-estimator: Coordinates the 5-component control plane; quorum required for all state changes.
  • hypothesis-postmortem-scribe: Publishes health status to 2,128 telemetry series and a wall-mounted dashboard no one watches.

Operational Characteristics

  • P50 time-to-outcome: 3 min; P99: 51 min — a 664% governance premium over the legacy device, well within tolerance
  • Known limitation: the deliberate failures are indistinguishable from the accidental ones
  • Disaster recovery: full state restoration in under 52 hours, assuming the runbook can be located
  • Compliance: self-certified against DQE-STD-545, a standard the Department authored for this purpose
